San Marcos residents are invited to attend a Community Meeting to learn more about the Quarry Redevelopment Plan and share their thoughts and opinions.  Representatives from Brookfield Residential will be on hand to describe changes to the plan made in response to community input, funding made available for local schools and the new public access to South Lake and the new “missing link” trail connecting South Lake, Discovery Lake, Ridgeline Trailhead and Double Peak Park creating a four-mile trail loop.

The meeting will be held in a model home at 187 Jewel Road in the new community of Candela within the Rancho Tesoro community.

Project Redesigned to Exceed City Parking Standards

In response to community input the project has been redesigned to include 11 additional parking spaces within the community and an additional 31 spaces along the project’s primary access road. A new public parking lot with 28 spaces is also now in the plan to provide public access to South Lake.

Brookfield has also agreed to require future buyers to sign an “owner occupied” agreement to discourage investors from purchasing townhomes and renting to multiple tenants, which can cause parking issues in a community.

A robust parking management plan would be recorded on the property owner’s title and will be strictly enforced by the management company to ensure homeowners are following regulations and using garages for intended purposes and not for storage.
